Idaho Arts Charter Lottery Process

How to apply for the lottery:  A lottery application must be completed and submitted to Idaho Arts Charter for all students interested in attending Idaho Arts Charter.  Applications are submitted electronically via an online enrollment. The State of Idaho requires that your child be 5 years old by September 1st of the year they start kindergarten (please refer to Idaho Code Statute 33-201). Proof of birthdate is required prior to enrolling.

When to Apply:  Idaho Arts Charter will begin accepting lottery applications for the next academic school year on January 1st. The application window closes on Friday, March 23rd at 11:59 p.m.  Lottery Applications received after the deadline will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list in the order it is received.

When the Lottery is:  Idaho Arts Charter holds its lottery on the 2nd Saturday in April.  The lottery is open to the public.

Lottery Process:  The Idaho Legislature established the lottery process for charter school admission in Idaho Code Statute 33-5205. Please review this state statute for details regarding the lottery process. As a brief overview, all applicants are placed into grade-level-specific 'Lottery Priority Groups' as follows:

First Priority: Applicants of Idaho Arts Charter School Founders are grouped in first priority lottery.

Second Priority: Siblings of students already attending Idaho Arts Charter and children of full-time employees of Idaho Arts Charter School are grouped in the second priority lottery.
Third Priority: Applicants that reside within Idaho Arts Charter’s primary area of attendance (Nampa School District) are grouped. A third lottery is conducted among these students.
Fourth Priority: Applicants that reside outside Idaho Arts Charter’s primary area of attendance are grouped. A fourth lottery is conducted among these students.

Offers for Enrollment:  All students that secure placement during the lottery will receive an email and/or letter from Idaho Arts Charter providing an 'Offer for Enrollment.'  Offers of enrollment must be accepted within the date provided in the email and/or letter.  If no response is received within the specified time frame, the student’s name will be moved to the bottom of the enrollment or waiting list. Students that do not secure placement during the lottery will be placed on the waiting list and will be contacted if a space becomes available.

Waiting List:  Students not selected for placement will be placed on a waiting list by grade. The waiting lists will be posted on our school website within 3 weeks after the lottery date.
