Marie McGrath - Principal

Marie McgrathGreetings! My name is Marie McGrath, and I am the principal of Idaho Arts Charter secondary school. I grew up in Grandview, Washington and came to Idaho to attend Northwest Nazarene College. I graduated from there in 1994 with a BA in Elementary and Special Education and later received my MA from Boise State University in Reading Education in 2003. My certification in Educational Administration from Northwest Nazarene University was completed in 2008. I previously worked for the Vallivue and Meridian School Districts as a special education and elementary teacher. I joined Idaho Arts Charter at its inception in 2005 as a teacher and founder. I worked for 9 years as the elementary principal and the last 3 as the secondary principal.   My family includes my husband Lance, librarian at the College of Idaho, and children Danner (19 and a freshman at the College of Idaho), Garrison (15), and Kestrel (6).   In my free time I love to read, work on my almost 100 year old home, crochet, go to thrift stores to find cool vintage stuff, and spend time in the wonderful wilderness of the Northwest.   As a side note, I serve as a regional coordinator for National History Day, a program I believe in deeply.  I am excited to learn more and grow professionally and personally.
